L272-CI-125 Series
ANSI Class 125 Cast Iron OS&Y Gate Valve
- Flanged ends, bolted bonnet, Cast Iron body & bonnet, Bronze trim.
- Flange dimensions: ANSI B16.1
- Face-to-Face dimensions: ANSI B16.10
- Testing & Design: MSS-SP-70
Cast iron gate valves provide economical isolation service for water, low-pressure steam, HVAC chilled and condenser water, fire protection systems, building service mains, and irrigation distribution. The OS&Y (Outside Screw and Yoke) design positions the stem threads above the bonnet outside the line media, protecting them from corrosion and providing a clear visual indication of valve position — important in fire protection installations where open/closed status must be verifiable at a glance.
The Class 125 pressure rating supports working pressure up to 200 psi at ambient temperature per ANSI B16.1 and MSS-SP-70, derating modestly as temperature rises. Cast iron body construction combined with bronze trim provides reliable corrosion resistance in fresh-water service and is the standard specification for municipal water utility, building water-supply, and fire-protection main valves. Flange dimensions follow ANSI B16.1 Class 125 (which differs from the steel-valve B16.5 Class 150 flange pattern), and face-to-face dimensions conform to ANSI B16.10. As with all gate valves, throttled operation should be avoided and the valve operated fully open or fully closed.
